PENANG : On the 23rd of January 2021, The Team Social from Kampus Sejahtera society had organized an interesting event called “KAMPUS SEJAHTERA X SOLS 24/7: An Insight on Volunteerism”. This event was held virtually through Facebook live and Google Meet platforms.
The objective of this event was to share the volunteering journey of the speaker, Ms. Alya of SOLS 24/7. In this session, Ms. Alya had shared her experiences on what it means by volunteering to the participants. Through the session, we got to know that there are many people in the world who are in need of our help. The participants also got the insights on how volunteerism can change their lives. Ms. Alya has always encouraged the youths to engage themselves in volunteering.
Moreover, this event was also held in a fun way. There were games through a platform called Kahoot. At the end of the games, the winner had a giveaway of De Pauh free coupons. After the Kahoot games, Ms. Alya continued her session. She shared about the seven main things that we should know before volunteering. The first thing is what we want, followed why we want it. Thirdly, we should find the right aspects that match with our passion, values, purpose and goals. Then, we should also realize that there are some places which need us. Next, volunteerism can be addictive followed by the fact that it is also about mutuality. Finally, we should know that we may not change the world by volunteering, but we will certainly change somebody else’s life. Thus, this is the reason it’s said that volunteerism is extremely important in our lives.
This event was considered to be a success due to the large number of participants. Through this programme, participants were able to understand the ways that they can help the society. In short, it was such an insightful event and the participants gained numerous information about volunteerism.
