Mind Your Earth with Biologist
On 23 January 2021. The Biodiversity team had organized a program entitled "Life as a Biologist" with the theme, Mind Your Earth, via online platforms such as Microsoft Teams and live sharing on Kampus Sejahtera's official Facebook page. Basically, what does a biologist do? Biologists study humans, plants, animals, and the environments in which they live. They conduct their studies, human medical researches, plant researches, animal researches, and also environmental system researches at the cellular or the ecosystem level. Biologists are students of the world who are interested in learning from every face of life. The rise of technology and industry may have distanced us superficially from nature, but it has not changed our reliance on the natural world.
Dr. Nadine Ruppert, a lecturer from the School of Biological Sciences at the University of Science, Malaysia has shared her experience as one of the panelists of the event, about her interest in the field of Tropical Biology and Animal Behaviour in Germany. This is such a great sharing to inspire and encourage more students to pursue science and research.

Although Nature needs thousands or millions of years to create a new species, a man needs only a few dozen years to destroy one. Well, this sharing session helps the students to cultivate a scientific way of thinking by assessing the importance of biodiversity.
Subsequently, the program continued with the sharing session from Dr. Rosnida Tajuddin, she is also a lecturer from the School of Biological Sciences at the University Science Malaysia (USM) about the variety of fungi. It was unpredictable to learn the fact that fungi are known for many types. They are also edible and poisonous. Thus, we were glad to have this sharing session to know more about our biodiversity.

In short,” If we do not love nature, we do not know how to love human beings”. We will lose the sense of tenderness, a sensitivity that responds to the beauty of things. It is only in the renewal of that sensitivity that we can have an understanding of what it means by a true relationship. That sensitivity does not come in the mere hanging of a few pictures, painting a tree, or putting flowers in your hair, but it comes only when this utilitarian outlook is put aside. It does not mean that you cannot use the earth, but you must use the earth the way it is supposed to be used. The earth is there to be loved and cared, and not to be divided as yours and mine. On the whole, this program benefits the participants and achieve all the objectives which are to cultivate a scientific way of thinking by assessing the importance of biodiversity, to give exposure of the biodiversity role to students, and to inspire and encourage more students to pursue in science and research
Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better.
